Today, I heard an instance wherein Gmail showed an incorrect date on the mail. I did a quick check and found out that it is indeed wrong. Immediately, a few reasons ran through my mind. It might be that the computer that gmail was accessed from had an incorrect date, but that would mean that gmail uses the client’s date instead of the server’s. I think that’s highly unlikely. Another reason would be the user changed the dates while forwarding the messages which I think is not the case. The last that I could think of right now is that it’s just a glitch. That would be a very convenient reason because an explanation and further investigation will seem fruitless because it’s just that… a glitch! I think I’ll look into it when I have the time, but for now, I’ll consider it as just a glitch.
