Configuring Singtel’s Free AirTies Mesh (Air4920SG)

Our router was just delivered together with 2 free AirTies WiFi Mesh. The router is a Singtel WiFi Gigabit Router AC 2800 that I don’t think I’ll ever use. We are currently using a FortiNet router.

The mesh devices didn’t come with manuals. I looked online but didn’t get a definitive guide on how to set it up. There is even a website that seems like legit but didn’t use just because it’s not using an SSL certificate. The site is ez.airtiesmesh.com.

Here are the steps:

  • Connect the primary Airties device to the router. The technician told me that the device with the odd-numbered last digit will be the device that you connect to the router.
  • Connect power and switch on.
  • Go to air4920.local. I found this browsing through the net. Apparently, it points to the internal IP address of the primary device that you can use to configure it.
  • Change SSID and password. ALWAYS change the SSID and password on a new network device.
  • Change the device password. The default password is blank. Not the word “blank” ✌.
  • Check and modify other settings as necessary. I just explored the control panel without changing much.
  • Switch on the extender.

I didn’t think the second device will connect automatically to the mesh without fiddling with the settings, but it did.
